With the Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation, you'll learn and network with expert trainers renowned in the industry for their contributions to the surveying profession. Learning from their experiences, you'll be taught everything you need to become a successful residential surveyor.

With a balance of face-to-face, practical, virtual and online learning, you'll be able to study alongside your current role and qualify in 24 months. No essays required!


Face-to-face support

During your face-to-face training days, you'll learn from your cohort and meet your trainers in person. We offer these training days in locations across the UK, you simply need to choose the course location that's right for you.

For accessibility, the course is delivered partly online, keeping unnecessary travel to a minimum.

Once qualified, you can choose to work for yourself, an SME or a leading surveying firm. To help, we hold a careers fair as part of our annual Surveying Expo to help you meet firms and other surveyors. We also offer career support to assist you in your search for employment.

The modern route into surveying

The Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation is the only vocational route into residential surveying. It is a degree-equivalent qualification enabling those without a relevant degree or experience to become surveyors and valuers.

Over the course of 24 months, you'll attend 8 face-to-face days at a UK course location, 4 practical days at our training properties in Milton Keynes, and the rest of your learning is delivered through virtual classrooms and online study.

  • The qualification is overseen by the Awarding Body for the Built Environment (ABBE), part of Birmingham City University
  • It is approved for Direct Entry into the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) at Associate level, meaning you can join RICS as soon as you are qualified and begin offering RICS Home Surveys
  • It is accredited by the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE)

How much can I earn?

Surveying is a profession. Your qualification gives you the ability to join the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, of equivalent status to that of an accountant or a lawyer.

Starting salaries will vary depending on where and how you work; however, according to popular recruitment sites Reed and Talent.com, entry level positions start at £45,000 per year. Within 3 years of graduating, the average basic salary is £61,000*, with senior and independent members of the profession reporting earnings in excess of £140,000 a year.
